Dentures
Dentures are removable dental appliances used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are custom-made to fit the individual’s mouth and provide functional and aesthetic restoration for people who have lost their natural teeth.
Dentures can be classified into two main types:
1.
Complete Dentures: These are used when all of the natural teeth are missing. Complete dentures consist of a full set of artificial teeth set in a pink-colored acrylic base that simulates the appearance of gums. They are designed to fit snugly over the gums and are held in place by suction or denture adhesive.
2.
Partial Dentures: Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They are made of a combination of artificial teeth and a metal or acrylic framework that attaches to the remaining natural teeth. Partial dentures not only fill the gaps caused by missing teeth but also help prevent the remaining natural teeth from shifting out of position.
Dentures provide a functional and cosmetic solution for individuals who have lost their natural teeth, allowing them to regain the ability to chew food properly, improve speech, and restore their smile.
